Pencil & Pastel Portraits, Staffordshire

Welcome to the website of professional pencil and pastel portrait artist Andy Tooth. Based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, I focus on producing unique portraits, pastels and paintings for people to enjoy for years to come.

I accept commissions to work on a wide range of pencil portraits and pastel portraits as well as paintings, but I particularly specialise in family portraits, pet portraits (including dog portraits, cat portraits, and any other pet portrait), wildlife portraits, wildlife art, and motorcycle paintings and art. I am based in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire but accept orders and commissions from all over the World. The prices page provides details about the prices of different types and sizes of portrait, how to order, and postage details for the completed pieces of art.

About my artwork

Working from photographs I can guarantee a good likeness. Portrait drawings are available in graphite pencil of different strengths on robust cartridge paper, the background can be either left as it is or can be coloured with a pastel colour of your own choice. Then the portrait is sealed with a fixative spray to preserve the portrait and so will not rub off or fade with time. Pencil portraits are or can be a lot quicker to complete than a painting, therefore making them a very unique and always a pleasing and unusual gift.

As well as the pencil portraits, pastel portraits also make a perfect gift for any occasion because they are so personal to you, your family and friends.

My prices are based on an estimation of how long the portrait will take for me to complete, which is affected by the size, the number of subjects and the background. If you wish to order and pay online the prices page also enables you to order the type and size of portrait that you would like, and to pay online using Paypal.

My portfolio of work, including examples of family portraits, pet portraits, motorcycle paintings, and wildlife portraits, is available to view online.

The process of pastel, pencil or painted portraits

If you would like a unique pencil or pastel portrait, you simply send me the image that you would like to be reproduced as a piece of art, discuss if you would prefer a pencil, pastel, or painted portrait, and I can begin.  Please ensure if you are sending photographs via e-mail or post that you make sure that it is a clear photograph.

The portraits process page demonstrates examples of the stages a portrait goes through as I work. The portraits process should provide you with an idea of the whole process from sending an initial image to be reproduced to the final finished piece of art. There are examples of the stages involved in pencil, pastel, and painted portraits.

If you are interested in a unique pencil or pastel portrait, then please contact me to discuss your requirements.
